Crane Service Raises The Roof In St Petersburg

We have been quite busy lately lifting everything from trusses to roofs! Yes, that’s right, we even raised the roof in St Petersburg after a historic 100 year old home was purchased and moved. In order to move the historic home through the streets of St Petersburg, the roof had to be removed, so D&R Crane Service, LLC was called in to assist Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County and JMC Communities.  You can find the story and video about the home here.

D&R Crane Service Raised The Roof In St Petersburg

We were called in to remove the roof of the historic home in preparation of the home being moved through the streets of St Petersburg. Once the roof was detached, then rigging was put into place so that we could lift the roof and set it on a trailer for transporting to the new home site. The roof was detached in it’s entirety and was lifted as an entire section, which saved a lot of time, rather than ripping off and re-roofing.

The roof was removed and then transported the next morning with the home and D&R Crane Service, LLC was ready to go into motion once the house was set on it’s new lot in St Petersburg. Doug prepares the crane equipment prior to starting, assuring that all safety precautions are in place. A quick meeting with others involved and coming up with the perfect plan of action to assure a safe and efficient roof setting and we are ready to “raise the roof”.

Everyone is aware of the plan of action and we set up to lift the roof, putting it back on it’s home. Staff set up and guide Doug as he works the crane, lowering the hook for attaching to the roof. The hook is lowered into the center of the roof and attached so that the weight is evenly distributed.

All is set and we are ready to place the roof back on top of the home! Here we go……
